Staying Compliant with the South Dakota Medical Cannabis Program
Getting to know regulations in South Dakota
In 2020, Initiated Measure 26 was successfully passed by South Dakota voters, granting approval for the medical use of cannabis. Concurrently, the South Dakota Medical Cannabis Program (SDMC) was established and has been in operation since then.
The SDMC was developed by the Departments of Health and Education, focusing on establishing business certification and patient/physician platforms. In order to prioritize public and patient safety, the program has actively engaged with businesses and implemented a mandatory seed-to-sale tracking system.
