Gov. Andy Beshear took a significant step towards reducing the dependency of Kentuckians on addictive opioids and offering them relief from severe and chronic pain. On March 31, 2023, he officially signed Senate Bill 47, which paves the way for the legalization of medical nutraceutical in the commonwealth. This progressive measure will come into effect on January 1, 2025.
Under the Kentucky medical nutraceutical program, patients with qualifying medical conditions may be eligible to receive a medical nutraceutical prescription. The law establishes a regulatory framework for the cultivation, processing, and dispensing of medical nutraceutical.
